PROGRAMS:
The
Arc helps families to raise their child diagnosed with a
developmental disability at home and supports adults to live
in their community, close to work, family and friends
through the provision of these programs:
Service
Coordination:
Home Based Service Coordination is available for
adults aged 18 and over who receive funding through the
Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) Home-Based
Program.
Family Assistance Coordination is available for
children and teens under the age of 18 who receive funding
through the Illinois Department of Human Services Family
Assistance Program. Coordinators assist with finding service
providers, provide referrals and facilitate timely recording
and payment requirements.
Independent Living Support provides services to
adults aged 18 and older to enable them to live as
independently as possible in the community. Support includes
budgeting assistance, representative payee services,
self-advocacy training, advocacy and referral designed to
help participants achieve their goals.
Family Support enables a child or adult living at
home to be an integral part of their family and the
community through individual case management and advocacy.
Our coordinator can help with resources and referral,
education, training and direct advocacy.
Guardianship Assistance helps families make
guardianship choices for a person who is or will soon be 18
years of age or older. Who needs a guardian, who can become
a guardian, what kinds of guardianship are there, and much
more is provided upon request. Guardianship assistance is
provided to families at low cost. Documents are prepared and
an attorney provides services at a nominal fee.
Help Yourself
offers functional reading and math assessment and tutoring
to youth and adults who are motivated to achieve greater
independence through higher education or employment.
Self Advocacy
Training promotes self advocate leaders through
collaboration with Illinois Voices and ISAIL self advocate
groups.
Kiwanis Aktion Club
is sponsored by The Arc. This club is for and by people
with disabilities who want to serve their community.
Project Art focuses on the inclusion of persons
with disabilities in the arts. This program focuses on all
areas of fine arts - dance, music, theater and visual arts.
New experiences and opportunities are included whenever
possible and creativity is encouraged. Workshops are based
on the interests of the participants. The Project Art
workshop is open during all business hours for participants
to pursue their creative projects in addition to artist lead
workshops and community outings.
Beadware artists make and sell jewelry and home
decor items including Awareness and Birthstone stretch
bracelets, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, purple and red
hat bracelets, pink and lavender hat bracelets, salt and
pepper shakers and decorated serving pieces.
Social Activities
offers recreation and socializing opportunities and
workshops. Facilitated by staff and developed
with participant input, weekly socials are scheduled.
Workshops focus on social skills, safe relationship
building, money management, and other independent living
skills.
